• CUTTING PRACTICE – $110.00
  3 minutes, 2 fresh cows per run.
• BOXING PRACTICE – $55
  1 minute 30 seconds, 1 re-run cow.

2026 Class Description and Prices

• OPEN CLASS – $190 / 2.5 fresh cows
  Points based on horse for End of Year Standings
  Any Horse/Any Rider – No limit on money won for horse or rider. Horse does not have to be rider owned. Members must be careful not to jeopardize NON-PRO status in other associations.
• NON PRO CLASS – $190 / 2.5 fresh cows
  Points based on rider for End of Year Standings
  Any Horse/Non-Pro Owner/Rider – Rider must hold a Non-Pro card OR be approved by the COCHA Board. Horse must be rider owned.
• $50,000 NON-PRO – $190 / 2.5 fresh cows
  Points based on rider for End of Year Standings
  Any Horse/Non-Pro Owner/Rider -Open to all holders of NCHA Non-Professional cards with non-professional earnings up to December 1, 1995 plus all money won in all approved classes after that date, including Limited Age Events, as determined from the records of the NCHA. Beginning with the 2004-point year, all money won in all classes, including Limited Age Events, as determined from the records of the NCHA are included in the Non-Pro’s life- time total.
• $25,000 AMATEUR CLASS – $190 / 2.5 fresh cows
  Points based on rider for End of Year Standings
  Non-Pro Owner/Rider – Rider must hold a Non-Pro/Amateur card OR be approved by the COCHA Board. Rider may not have more than $25,000 LIFETIME EARNINGS. Horse must be rider owned.
• $5,000 NOVICE HORSE CLASS – $190 / 2.5 fresh cows
  Points based on horse for End of Year Standings
  Any Rider – Horse may not have more than $5,000 LIFETIME EARNINGS. No limit on money won by rider. Horse does not have to be rider owned. Members must be careful not to jeopardize NON-PRO status in other associations.
• $5,000 NOVICE HORSE NON-PRO CLASS – $190 / 2.5 fresh cows
  Points based on horse for End of Year Standings
  Non-Pro Owner/Rider – Rider must hold a Non-Pro card OR be approved by the COCHA BOARD. Horse may not have more than $5,000 LIFETIME EARNINGS. Horse must be rider owned.
• $1500K NOVICE HORSE CLASS – $190 / 2.5 fresh cows
  Points based on horse for End of Year Standings
  Any Rider – Horse may not have more than $1,500 LIFETIME EARNINGS. No limit on money won by rider. Horse does not have to be rider owned. Members must be careful not to jeopardize NON-PRO status in other associations.
• $4,000 LIMIT RIDER CLASS – $168 / 2 fresh cows
  Points based on rider for End of Year Standings
  Any Horse – Rider may not have more than $4,000 LIFETIME EARNINGS. Horse does not have to be rider owned.
• NEVER WON A BUCKLE CLASS– $168 / 2 fresh cows
  Points based on rider for End of Year Standings
  Any Horse- Rider may have NEVER won a buckle in a cutting event/class. NCHA rules and regulations apply. (must be shown “hand-down”).
• $500 LIMIT RIDER CLASS – $168 / 2 fresh cows
  Points based on rider for End of Year Standings
  Any Horse – Rider may not have more than $500 LIFETIME EARNINGS. Horse does not have to be rider owned.
• RANCH CUTTER CLASS – $168 / 2 fresh cows
  Points based on horse for End of Year Standings
  Any Horse/Any Rider – Horse does not have to be rider owned. This class is designed for horses that have not previously competed in a hand-down class.  Riders of all levels are welcome, including both Open and Non-Pro Competitors.  This class offers the opportunity for both horse and rider experience the challenge and excitement of one-handed cutting, while providing a supportive environment for those new to the discipline.  Credit earned for clean, quality cuts and the quality of work with the least amount of rider interference. No Penalty for reining the horse.  Riders will not be penalized if they choose to rein their horse during the competition.  Any legal bit with either split reins or Romal reins. Horse does not have to be rider owned.
• TWO-HANDED CLASS – $168 / 2 fresh cows
  Points based on horse for End of Year Standings
  Any Horse/Any Rider – Horse does not have to be rider owned. This class is open to any non professional rider. This class is designed for horses that have not previously competed in a hand-down cutting class or have been shown in a bridle.  This class offers a traditional cutting experience for young and green horses.  Credit earned for clean quality cuts and quality of work with the least amount of rider interference. Only snaffle bits and hackamores are permitted in this class.  No training aids allowed.
• YOUTH (Junior and Senior) CLASS – $85 / 2.5 fresh cows
  Points based on rider for End of Year Standings
  Any Horse – Any youth rider can compete in this class within a class.  Youth riders are defined as Junior (13 and under) or Senior (14 through 18) Youth as of January 1^st of the competition year. Junior and Senior Youth are scored separately and points tallied separately for end of year standings..  Horse does not have to be rider owned.
• BOXING CLASS – $110.00 / 1 Re-Run cow
  Points based on horse for End of Year Standings
  Any Horse/Any Rider – Horse does not have to be rider owned. This class consists of a single cow work (boxing) on the end of the arena. Each contestant, upon receiving one cow, shall hold the cow on the prescribed end of the arena for 50 seconds, demonstrating the ability of the horse and rider to control the cow. No martingales or training devices allowed. Rawhide or leather bosals (hackamores) and snaffle bits are allowed.
